Shchukin, Boris Vasilevich (05 (17) .04.1894 – 07.10.1939), Russian Soviet actor and People's Artist of USSR (1936).
In 1920 he entered the drama studio under the direction of E. Vakhtangov, later in the troupe Theatre. Vakhtangov.
At the actor's art was greatly influenced by the aesthetics of his teacher, with its vivid theatricality, irony, the proximity of people's buffoonery, grotesque. Shchukin – one of the largest representatives of the Soviet school of realism, the artist brilliantly combines in his art, comedy and dramatic start. External simplicity appearance and behavior combined with a thin inner intellectuality.
A significant milestone in the development of Soviet theater were created by their role: Yegor Bulychev (Egor Bulychev and Others "Gorky), Pavel Suslov (Virineya Seifullina and Pravdukhin), Polonius (Shakespeare's Hamlet).
Shchukin – one of the first actors who embodied the image of Lenin in the performances ("Man with the Gun" Pogodin, 1937) and in films directed by M. Romm ("Lenin in October, 1937," Lenin in 1918, 1939).
USSR State Prize (1941, posthumous). Awarded the Order of Lenin.
