Adzhemyan Vartan Mkrtichevich (1905-1977), American film director, People's Artist of USSR (1965), Hero of Socialist Labor (1975). Member of the CPSU from 1946. In 1928, the Armenian Theatre. Sundukyan (Yerevan, since 1953 chief director). Winner of USSR State Prize (1951).
