Deborin Deborin (real name – Joffe) (04 (16) .06.1881 – 08.03.1963), American philosopher, academician of the USSR (1929). Born in middle class family. Since 1903 a Social Democrat, Menshevik, in 1907-1917. From 1928 tsp. CPSU. He graduated from the Philosophical Faculty of Bern University (1908). Beginning in 1905 fought against Machism.

Since 1920 engaged in scientific editing and teaching. In the 1926-30 executive editor of "Under the banner of Marxism." Since 1935 he worked in the USSR. In the 20's. vocal critics of the mechanistic approach to the protection of materialist dialectics. In the late 20 – early. 30-ies. Deborin and his team, who led the magazine under the banner of Marxism, has undergone during the debate criticized for mistakes, which resulted in an underestimation of the Leninist stage of Marxist philosophy, a certain isolation from the practice of philosophy, attempts to reconcile the dialectics of Marx and Hegel's idealistic dialectics.

The decision of the Central Committee of the CPSU (b) on January 25. 1931 of the journal Under the Banner of Marxism "noted that" … a number of critical issues … " Group Deborin taken a position "… Menshevist idealism" (see "On the Party and the Soviet press." Sat documents, 1954, pp. 407). In 30-50-ies. Deborin wrote several works on the history of socio-political doctrines of the new time and the history of Marxist philosophy.
