Born December 5, 1947 in Leningrad.
In 1974 he graduated from the Leningrad State Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinematography (Class IV in Vladimirov) and was admitted to the troupe Lensoviet. Going into 1986-88 GG probation on a class of direction under the guidance of P. Vladimirov, qualified as a director. A few years was the second teacher of acting in the course of IP Vladimirov in LGITMiK.
In 1993 he was awarded the honorary title of Honored Artist of Russia.
2008 – People's Artist of Russia.
