Tisse Edward Kazimirovich (01 (13) .04.1897 – 11.18.1961), the Soviet statement, Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1935) and the Latvian SSR (1947).

Member of the CPSU from 1940. He worked in film since 1914 (in Liepaja), filmed the first Latvian documentary films and newsreels, as the military kinokorrespondenta – the events of the Civil War 1918 – 1920.

His images of Lenin entered the documentary, "Vladimir Ilyich Lenin" (1949).

A statement of films directed by Sergei Eisenstein: "Strike" (1925), "Battleship Potemkin" (1925), "October" (1927), "Old and New" (1929), "Bezhin Meadow" (1937) "Alexander Nevsky" (1938), "Ivan the Terrible" (1945, 2 nd Series Joint. with A. H. Moskvin, 1958).

He worked with other directors – "Meeting on the Elbe" (1949), "Composer Glinka (1952). Delivered as a director (with ZM Agranenko) and was the operator of the film "Immortal garrison" (1956).

Along with Moskvin and AD Golovnea Tisse is the founder of the Soviet school operator.

From 1921 he taught in VGIK (from 1943 – professor).

USSR State Prize (1946, 1949, 1950). He was awarded two Orders of Red Banner of Labor.
