Isaac Ilyich Levitan (30/09/1860 – 09/04/1900) was born August 30, 1860 in a small Lithuanian town of Kovno Kibart province. His father was a minor employee, the family was large and lived a wealthy life. In the early 70-ies Levitan family moved to Moscow, then died suddenly the mother of Isaac, and after briefly dying and his father.
At the age of thirteen Levitan entered the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. In September 1876 Levitan trained in landscape workshop AK Savrasov, and later became his teacher VD Polenov. Thanks to his talent and hard work, excellent Levitan graduated from college, but the Board denied him the school to award a large silver coin.
After graduating Levitan participated in traveling exhibitions, his works enjoyed great success. Thus, his work "Autumn day. Sokolniki", was in 1880 purchased Tretyakov, which was a recognition of artistic talent Levitan. In addition to landscape painting Levitan also worked on designs for the Moscow Private Russian Opera SIMamontov.
In 1880 – 1884 years, Isaac Levitan wrote from life in Ostankino. The result of his work are such as "Pines", "oak grove. Autumn", "Dub". In 1887, Levitan is sent to the Volga. Volga nature gives the artist new landscape scenes, there are paintings "Evening. Golden Ples", "After the Rain. Ples", "Evening on the Volga. From 1890 to 1895 Levitan painted his best works. In the spring of 1894 the artist arrived in Tver province, here they were written in such canvases as "Spring. Last Snow", "March", "Apple Trees in Blossom", "Golden Autumn", "high road.
