Vasily Perov (01/02/1834 (23/12/1833) – 1882), was born in the town of Tobolsk. His father, Baron von Kridiner, was the provincial procurator. But as the boy was born to the parents' marriage, he received the name of his godfather – Vasilyev. Subsequently, however, the artist has approved a name Perov. Perov – a nickname given to Basil in his childhood for his success in calligraphy. The first lessons of painting the future artist was in school Stupina in Arzamas. This school was considered one of the best provincial art schools at that time. When Vasily was 18, he moved to Moscow and entered the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. Soon the artist was written painting "Sermon in a Village," one of the first for which Perov was in college a gold medal, as well as the right to a scholarship to travel abroad.
