Sauerweid Alexander was educated at the Academy of Fine Arts, where the September 19, 1839 received a gold medal of the second degree for the submitted paintings to the class of paintings of marine species. These two paintings, bearing the same name "Storm on the Sea", made an impression on the academic exhibition in 1839
Artist hopes to put more went abroad, to France, where in 1842 sent a form from nature "Harbor at Le Havre, and received from the Academy of Art's first gold medal. But consumption was interrupted by a young life, and, it seems, Z. died abroad.
