Shchedrin Valentine Nikanorovna (05/28/1927). Born in the village Verbovichi Gomel region in the family servants. She graduated from the Philological Faculty of the Belarusian University (1951) and post-graduate Institute of Linguistics of the BSSR. She worked as an editor at Uchpedgize BSSR (1951 – 1951), a school teacher, editor Gosmedizdata, employees' medical Gazeta (1952 – 1968), consultant to Belarusian. literature of the joint USSR (1968 – 1987). She debuted as a translator of prose, VV Bykov in 1961. Belarusian translation of the work, writers (V. Korotkevich, M. Gil, J. Lelka, R. Semashkevich, etc.). Member of USSR JV (1983). She was awarded medals. Honored Worker of Culture of the BSSR (1977).
